Trim Levels (Exterior)

This year, you'll notice it has a redesigned front end that includes a grille insert with horizontal dividing lines to create a cohesive look with the redesigned headlights. This engine comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The optional engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter that makes 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This version comes paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Both engines have start/stop technology for better fuel efficiency.
Performance
If excellent gas mileage is a necessity for you, then the Equinox will be perfect. With the 1.5-liter engine, you'll get up to 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway when you stick with the standard front-wheel drive. Those who opt for the 2.0-liter engine will enjoy up to 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg out on the highway. If you upgrade to all-wheel drive, it will slightly decrease your gas mileage, but it's a trade-off for the increase in traction and performance.
